"His brother [Vinnie Paul] is tryin' to get that together," Coe told RollingStone.com. "That's gonna be a great thing."
Songtitles set to appear on the CD include "Heartworn Highway", "A Man With Nothin' Ain't Got Nothin' to Lose", "One Night Stand", "New York City Streets" and "Get Outta My Life". The title track, "Rebel Meets Rebel", was previously said to be a duet with PANTERA singer Philip Anselmo.
"Being from Texas, not only do we have rock roots, but we listen to country and blues," Paul explained to MTV News in early 2000. "Before our shows, we'd play 'Jack Daniels, If You Please' off of one of [Coe's] CDs.... He caught wind of it, and we went out to see him when he played Billy Bob's. He was just a super cool dude. It was fun to check him out, and we hooked him up with a couple of our home videos, and he called us back a couple days later and just said, 'Man, these f***ing videos are incredible. I really dig what you guys do.' He knows more about PANTERA than I do now."
The fast friendship soon yielded a creative partnership, as Paul explained. "We started hooking up and jamming and doing some tunes, and they're pretty unique. Some of them are just like an up-tempo thrash metal hoedown with a country and western singer," the drummer said.
PANTERA's career overview CD, "The Best of Pantera: Far Beyond the Great Southern Cowboys' Vulgar Hits!", sold 406,000 in the United States since its September 2003 release, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The 16-song "Vulgar Hits!" CD was packaged with a bonus DVD boasting 12 videos, including two live performances. The bulk of the material was culled from the band's six major-label releases, but also included are non-album cuts "Cat Scratch Fever" (a cover of the TED NUGENT song that originally appeared on the Polygram soundtrack to "Detroit Rock City") and the BLACK SABBATH cover "Hole in the Sky", previously available only on import.

ROB ZOMBIE: 'My Future Is Movies' - July 15, 2005
According to The Boston Globe, ROB ZOMBIE is planning to phase out music in the next few years to concentrate on writing and directing horror films. His first feature, "House of 1000 Corpses", earned $15 million in theaters and another $45 million in DVD sales, he said. Zombie's second film, "The Devil's Rejects", comes out nationally July 22.
"My future is movies," Zombie told The Boston Globe. "The music is dwindling down, because you can't do both. There's just not enough time in your life. If you try to do both, both will suffer. So you've got to make the choice. . . . And it's a new challenge. I've been doing music nonstop for 20 years and now I'm just fired up about movies."
Zombie, who grew up in Haverhill, is not calling Ozzfest his farewell tour. He's nearly completed a new album — with backup from Tommy Lee of MÖTLEY CRÜE, Josh Freese of A PERFECT CIRCLE, and Wes Borland of LIMP BIZKIT — and may tour again to support that. Meanwhile, his band for Ozzfest includes guitarist John 5 (formerly with MARILYN MANSON) and drummer Tommy Cluefetos, who normally plays with ALICE COOPER.

PILEDRIVER: New Demo Tracks Available For Download - July 15, 2005
Reunited classic Canadian metallers PILEDRIVER have uploaded full-length MP3 files of four new demo tracks from their upcoming album, "Metal Manifesto", at this location. The songs available for download are as follows;
01. Blood Bath
02. Metal Manifesto
03. Battle Axe
04. Road Pigs
According to the Internet heavy metal encyclopedia BNR, PILEDRIVER burst onto the metal scene in 1985 "with an over-the-top image (including a ridiculous album cover), tacky lyrics ('Sex With Satan', 'Alien Rape', etc), but also a surprisingly well-executed power/thrash style. [The group's debut] 'Metal Inquisition' was just plain great fun to listen to, one of those guilty pleasures that one could both smile at and headbang to at the same time. Some time later, the follow-up, 'Stay Ugly', appeared, and was quite a disappointment, as the production and songwriting were both below average, and the style had shifted a bit toward messy thrash. Soon after that, the band, disappeared without a trace.
"Years later, the PILEDRIVER story is told. Pile Driver himself (real name Gord Kirchin) tells how the idea of the band came from a record exec who basically just wanted to make a quick buck. The band, as such, never really existed at all, as Kirchin was only hired to do vocals for two separate studio projects (which explains why the two albums differed as much as they did), with all the names made up, as was virtually everything else about the band. Kirchin later formed his own band, DOGS WITH JOBS, and sporadically has been working on solo material since then."

Chilean Black Metal Fans Linked To Series Of Violent Acts - July 15, 2005
A series of violent acts linked to satanic groups have been reported in different parts of Chile since the murder of the Father Faustino Gazziero on July 24, 2004 in the hands of a black metal fan. Just this past weekend, a new attack was reported in the general cemetery of Coyhaique, where several gravestones were defaced (Photo#1, Photo#2) and even gunshots are said to have been fired by youths who appear to hold the same beliefs as those held by Rodrigo Orias, the 26-year-old DEICIDE fan responsible for Gazziero's murder.
Meanwhile, the authorities are currently considering a request by Orias (recent photo) to leave for a few days the psychiatric center in Putaendo, where he is currently undergoing treatment, to visit his mother, María Gallardo, who is said to be dying of cancer.
Orias' lawyer, Carmen Gloria Arroyo, issued an appeal last Friday for the authorities to allow her client for "humane reasons" to leave the psychiatric center and spend several days with his dying mother.
"Rodrigo's mother is in the final period of her life," the lawyer said. "She has cancer and our intention is to obtain permission so that can he can say good-bye of his mother. We are asking for the minimum possible time so that he can get on a plane, visit his mother and come back."
The following short interview with Orias' lawyer, Carmen Gloria Arroyo, was published on the Lun.com web site:
Q: What is Orias' condition a year after he committed the murder of the Father Faustino Gazziero?
A: "He has made excellent progress in his rehabilitation. He has reacted very well to the entire process, and he is able to socialize well with the other inmates. He is in a place with optimum conditions to aid him in his recovery."
Q: Is he aware of the crime that he has comitted?
A: "Absolutely. It is very clear he is seeking repentance for what he did. He understands that he committed a crime and that it was caused by his mental illness."
Q: Does he know that his favorite musical group, DEICIDE, is scheduled to arrive in Chile today?
A: "He is worried about the connection that is being made between what he has done and this group. He wants to make it clear that what he did has nothing to do with his musical taste."

OZZY OSBOURNE On OZZFEST: 'Why End Something That People Still Want To See?' - July 15, 2005
Ozzy Osbourne spoke this week to Steve Morse of the Boston Globe about the 10th anniversary of Ozzfest, which is scheduled to kick off today in Mansfield, MA. Several excerpts from the interview follow:
''I was saying to my wife Sharon, 'How long is Ozzfest going to go on?' And Sharon said, 'Darling, believe me, we'll know.' But why end something that people still want to see? It's not like there's just three people in the audience."
On whether he chooses the bands:
''My son and wife do all that. I just go out and play. And as I'm getting older, my stage fright is getting worse. But I just have a cup of coffee before I go on stage. I have no choice but to get on with it and give my best."
On the accident in his all-terrain vehicle at his English estate last year:
"I was in a coma . . . and also severed nerves in my left shoulder. They put me back together again, and it's a [expletive] miracle that I'm talking to you. I used to think I was invincible, but I don't think that anymore."
On quitting drinking alcohol the spring of last year:
"[It] just didn't work for me anymore. I never liked the taste of booze. I just liked the effect. But I'm not a goody-two-shoes now. I'm still [expletive] crazy."
On the end of his family's MTV reality show, "The Osbournes", after a four-year run:
"So much happened good and bad with that. My kids ended up junkies, and my drug and alcohol intake was worse than ever for a while, and my wife got cancer. Yet it was still the highest rated show (on MTV). But it was hard."

OSBOURNE House A Public Attraction? - July 15, 2005
According to Sky.com, Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne have hit on a novel way to deal with their inability to sell their Los Angeles mansion — opening it up as a tourist attraction.
The pair have been trying to sell the house, made famous in their TV show "The Osbournes", for a year without any success.
The Sun reports that they may now cash in on the hordes of fans who turn up outside the house by charging them to come in.
A source said: "Fans are always turning up outside to have a nosey around and the place has become a regular stop on Los Angeles tourist trips.
"Sharon is now desperate to vacate as soon as possible.
"She reckons that if the house doesn't sell in the next month she and Ozzy will open it as an Osbournes attraction.
"It could be a moneyspinner given the number of people who already show up for a gawp and knock at the door."
Reports suggest that potential buyers of the mansion have been put off by the number of fans it currently attracts.

TOMMY THAYER Discusses KISS Tribute Bands, Guitars And His Live Setup - July 15, 2005
KISS guitarist Tommy Thayer recently answered a few questions from fans via his official web site. A few excerpts from the Q&A session follow:
Q: What is your favorite fast food restaurant? What is your favorite candy?
Tommy Thayer: "I've been straying away from fast food as much as possible anymore, but when the temptation arises it's usually In N Out Burgers. Candy selection would be dark chocolate, preferably Dove."
Q: Which of the current KISS tribute bands are the best? Are there individual members from different acts that you think stand out more than others?
Tommy Thayer: "I haven't seen many of the current contenders lately, but I'd have to say that KISSNATION will blow the doors off the house."
Q: As a fellow guitarist, I love looking at your KISS tour photos! You have some amazing guitars. Please tell us about your guitar collection. How long have you had those beautiful Les Pauls? Of all the guitars you own, which is your favorite — and why?
Tommy Thayer: "I've played Gibson Les Pauls as long as I've played, with few exceptions. I probably have nine or ten total. The four I have on tour with me are Gibson Custom Shop Les Paul 'Classics,' three of which are 1960 Honeyburst Reissues and another is a black version. At home I have my black Les Paul Custom I played in BLACK 'N BLUE as well as a wine red Les Paul Deluxe along with a couple other '70s Sunbursts and other assorted odds and ends."
Q: Can you give us a run-down your live gear setup you use with KISS?
Tommy Thayer: "My amplification setup is as follows: Four Marshall JCM 100 watt amp tops driving four custom 4 x 12 cabinets loaded with Vintage 30 Celestian speakers. The only guitar effect I use is a Boss Octave-Divider for a couple solos. My motto is 'keep it simple,' it always sounds better that way!"

Chilean Priest: DEICIDE's Music Promotes 'Death, Hatred And Violence' - July 15, 2005
A Chilean priest was recently interviewed by El Llanquihue regarding tonight's controversial appearance in Santiago by DEICIDE, a band who are said to have been one of the favorite groups of a Chilean black metal fan who murdered a Italian Catholic priest a year ago.
As previously reported, Rodrigo Orias, 26 (photo#1, photo#2, posing in Chile with MARDUK), slit Father Faustino Gazziero's (photo#1, photo#2, photo#3) throat, smeared his face with the victim's blood and then stabbed himself several times in the chest and neck with the same knife (photo of similar knife/dagger) at the conclusion of a Mass at Santiago's Metropolitan Cathedral on July 24, 2004 while hundreds of churchgoers watched in horror, according to published reports.
Orias, who had a pentagram branded on the left side of his chest (covering his heart) and several other symbols of the occult tattooed on his body (photo of one of Orias' tattoos), reportedly asked DARK FUNERAL singer Emperor Magus Caligula during the Swedish black metal band's visit to Santiago in 2003 to burn an inverted cross on Rodrigo's arm with a cigar — a "mark" which Orias later planned to make into a tattoo.
The following interview with Chilean priest Fray Domingo Faúndez (photo) was published by El Llanquihue:
Q: What is it about DEICIDE's visit to Chile that bothers you the most?
A: "It is painful to see that exactly a year after the murder of Father Faustino Gazziero, this rock group is being allowed to play in this country. It is disrespectful and it can be considered a provocation. This kind of music promotes death, hatred and violence, and I am not happy about the fact that a band who puts out a call to its followers to commit murder is allowed to enter to Chile."
Q: Wouldn't it be counterproductive to try and prevent the band from entering the country?
A: "I believe that any group that promotes murder should not be admitted into the country. They promote death, chaos, disorder and violence. We are a country that is essentially Christian, which should be respected by those who come to visit in the same way that we extend our respect to them. We do not murder them, we do not throw stones at them, and yet, they are allowed to do that to us."
Q: How is music able to influence a person to commit an illegal or violent act?
A: "Music is like a drug. Sadly, in a lot of of our youth there is confusion, frustration over the lack of work opportunities and education. This kind of music puts ideas in the minds of the listener and it does not offer the youth any encouragement or hope to build a better future for themselves."

SHE SAID DESTROY To Record Debut In September - July 15, 2005
Norwegian extreme metal thrashers SHE SAID DESTROY are scheduled to enter the studio in September to record their debut album, tentatively due in early 2006 via Nocturnal Art Productions. The group, who have been an active live unit and have made many impressive live appearances, made strong impressions on fans and media alike with their latest demo, "Armageddon Anyone?" Metal Hammer Germany declared it demo of the month, and Metal Hammer U.K. gave it 8 out of 10 points, stating, "This is heavy fucking metal, not Paris Fashion Week!"
